Postnatal depression
Post Natal Depression is a depressive illness that occurs after having a baby. It can range in severity from a mild and normal period of mood disturbance through to severe and at its most extreme post natal psychosis.
Post natal depression occurs in 10-15% of new mothers and usually develops within the first month following child birth. Symptoms include feeling low, being unable to enjoy yourself, the experience of irritability, sleep disturbance, poor appetite and unhelpful and unhealthy thinking patterns accompanied by anxiety.
