Domestic abuse
Domestic abuse also known as domestic violence can be broadly defined as a pattern of abusive behaviours by one or both partners in an intimate relationship, such as marriage, family, friends or co-habitation.
It is often related to an inappropriate need and desire for control. It may be physical, sexual, emotional or related to economic deprivation. It is possible that domestic abuse may lead to a wide range of psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder.
