Dr Andrew Hale

Dr Hale currently works for Priory Group. He received his first degree in Psychology from the University of Surrey, before completing an MSc in Occupational and Organisational Psychology with a research focus on conflict management in the workplace. Dr Hale gained a PsychD in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology from the University of Surrey. He has worked in a variety of settings, including the NHS, workplace counselling, mentally disordered offenders unit and a private clinic. He has treated clients with a range of enduring mental health problems, including psychosis, personality disorder, learning disabilities, depression and anxiety.

Dr Hale specialises in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and the facilitation of behavioural change. He currently runs groups designed to address particular anxieties that clients experience with OCD, for example obsessive washing, checking and ruminations, and uses a motivational interviewing and CBT behavioural change contract approach for the latter.

Dr Hale treats post traumatic stress symptoms and phobias. He also works with organisations in the delivery of a structured stress management programme to facilitate psychological health and performance within the workplace.
Dr Hale’s research has explored the learning experience of those engaged in group psychotherapy.
