Post traumatic stress disorder

It is possible that in the course of our lives we may be exposed to an experience that may be overwhelmingly frightening. Often in these situations we really believe that our very existence and life is under threat.

Examples may include a car crash, being diagnosed with a life threatening illness or being the victim of a violent crime such as rape or sexual abuse. Other examples may include bullying or domestic violence. Sometimes we are able to manage these experiences but on other occasions the trauma may last several years.

Symptoms may include insomnia, hypersensitivity, flashbacks, depression and fatigue.
